Obituary for Caren Reich
Reich, Caren J., 74, of Northfield, passed away at 1:48PM, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City. Caren was born on June 14,1943 in Philadelphia to Leonard “Lenny” and Rose Bakst. Caren graduated Atlantic City High School in 1961. Caren was the matriarch of our family. The holidays won’t be the same without her. She was an excellent cook and when she cooked, the family came running. She enjoyed years of dancing with her husband, Jim, spending winters in Florida, wore out the handle/maxbutton on the slots at the casinos, personally knew the UPS drivers due to shopping with QVC network, and cherished her late-night talks with her friends. In her earlier years, she was in the Miss Steel Pier and Miss Atlantic City pageants, a member of the Knights of Pythias, worked as a realtor at Weeks McMurray and in the cosmetics department at JCPenney. Caren was a very generous, caring and thoughtful woman.She always had her thoughts on others making sure everyone was taken care of.
Caren is survived by her children, SueAnn (Michael) Slater, Jennifer Shannon, and Jeffrey Reich, grandchildren, Brittany Marino, Amanda, Dominic, and Gabrielle, sister Marsha (Tim) Long. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, James Reich and her granddaughter, Ashley Reich. Graveside services will be held Monday Oct. 2, 11am at the Egg Harbor City Cemetery, Moss Mill Rd. and Hamburg Ave., Egg Harbor City. In lieu of flowers, the family requestst that donations be made in memory of Caren Reich to the Cancer Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, P.O.
