Obituary for Shirley Israel

Shirley Israel (nee Korenbaum), 93, of Ventnor, NJ, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 6th. Formerly a resident of Bowie, MD, Shirley worked as a bookkeeper prior to being wed to the love of her life, Sydney Israel. Their loving relationship lasted 56 years until Sydney’s death in 2011. Shirley was active in Bowie, Maryland’s Nevey Shalom Synagogue and was a former officer and President of its Sisterhood. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Naomi Morgan (Nelson) and granddaughters Britany Morgan and Leslie Morgan. Shirley’s family would like to thank her caregivers for their kindness and both family and friends for their support and concern. The family has requested that funeral services be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
